TESLA COIL built FROM trash
Greg Miller prides himself on his dumpster-diving ability. To motivate others to take up the terrestrial sport he developed this Tesla coil built completely from trash (Coral cache link). The power supply is from a neon indication he discovered behind a frat house. The capacitor bank is built from high voltage caps discovered in televisions. The spark space is a pair of 1/4 inch bolts. The main coil is developed on a lamp shade utilizing a cord from a humidifier. The secondary coil is made from the cable of a microwave fan as well as a cardboard tube. The toroid, imagined above, is built from two stove eyes. The chokes are cable wrapped around ballpoint pens. He’s got some nice photos of it in action plus a guide to what goodies you should salvage from consumer electronics.
