GENERATING PINK noise
[Miceuz] just completed his very first surface install electronics project. It’s a pink noise generator that is utilized for testing audio equipment (scroll down that link for the English version of his writeup).
Pink noise is somewhere in between red noise as well as white noise. Didn’t recognize there were much more colors than just white when it concerns noise? The benefit of testing with pink noise is that it the power of the audio signal is steady with each octave of noise – white noise boosts in power with each extra octave which can damage the tweeters in a noise system.
The goal in this style was to develop a noise generator that in shape into an XLR connector. [Miceuz] started with an existing design, as well as modified it to fit his needs. much like a condenser microphone, the pink noise generator utilizes phantom power instead of a standalone power source. For instance, the style he based this on needed two 9v batteries. The size, the option of case, as well as the absence of a battery all spell WIN for this project.
